OpenStreetMap bags a million
Google Maps rival goes from strength to strength
The collaborative mapping project OpenStreetMap has celebrated signing up its millionth member, as a spike it in popularity has seen its members swell by double every 14 months or so since 2005.
It claims to be the most detailed digital map in several countries (including dear old Blighty, as it happens) and it puts its soaring success down to its willing and able participants creating and maintaining maps as they please. Well done to them all, we say.
It might not have the features or brand name of Google, but we salute OpenStreetMap just the same.
